Meat Cutter Hugos Family Marketplace - Store #3 - 13th Ave. N. - Grand Forks, ND 58203 Overview Position Type Full Time or Part Time Description Job Purpose: The Meat Cutter at Hugo's Family Marketplace is responsible for expertly cutting, trimming, grinding, and preparing various types of meat to meet customer specifications. This role ensures that all meat products are packaged, weighed, labeled, and priced accurately while maintaining proper rotation and storage to guarantee freshness and quality. The Meat Cutter plays a crucial role in keeping the meat department fully stocked and visually appealing, adhering to safety, sanitation, and temperature guidelines. This position requires the operation of meat-cutting equipment with a focus on quality, cleanliness, and organization, as well as assisting customers with product selection. Key Responsibilities: Cut, trim, grind, and prepare meat according to customer specifications and company standards. Provide custom cuts to meet specific customer requests. Package, weigh, label, and price meat products accurately and efficiently. Ensure proper rotation and storage of meat products to maintain freshness and quality. Keep the meat department fully stocked and visually appealing to enhance the customer shopping experience. Adhere to safety, sanitation, and temperature guidelines to ensure a safe and clean work environment. Operate meat-cutting equipment safely and efficiently, maintaining all equipment in good working order. Maintain the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and organization in the meat department. Assist customers with product selection, offering knowledgeable advice and exceptional customer service. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient department operations and excellent customer service. Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory control and product rotation. Qualifications Required Education: High school diploma or GED Preferred Education: Technical training or coursework in meat cutting, butchery, or food service Food safety certification (as required by local regulations) Required Experience: Minimum: 1–2 years of experience in a meat department or food service role Preferred Experience: 2–4+ years of hands-on meat cutting experience Experience with retail meat department operations Familiarity with inventory control and product rotation Required Skills and Abilities: Proficient meat cutting and knife skills Knowledge of various meat cuts and preparation methods Adherence to food safety and sanitation compliance Strong attention to detail and precision Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to operate meat department equipment safely Physical stamina and comfort working in cold environments Effective time management and teamwork skills
