General Production Worker The General Production Worker serves in an entry-level utility role within the production area and performs a wide range of general labor tasks. This position supports meat processing operations by following established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining clean, safe, and efficient production conditions. The role is not limited to a single station and requires flexibility to assist across various tasks and shifts as needed. Responsibilities Contribute to production operations by following all policies and procedures for meat processing, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations. Maintain all production areas in clean and sanitary condition and promptly report any issues that could lead to unsanitary conditions. Remove product and packing materials from the floor to keep work areas clear and safe. Properly dispose of and track inedible products in accordance with company guidelines. Separate and remove trash and recycling from production areas to designated locations. Stage production areas with empty containers and necessary supplies for the following shift. Assist with preparing and disassembling meat-processing equipment for operation or sanitation as directed. Support collection, opening, and reuse of rework materials, ensuring accurate identification of product and line to prevent cross-contamination and allergen issues. Relieve co-workers for breaks, which may include temporarily working in different positions on the line. Accurately complete all assigned paperwork and production documentation. Assist in training new employees by demonstrating proper procedures and reinforcing safety and quality standards. Before leaving at the end of the shift, check in with the area leadership for any additional pass-down or shutdown activities that must be completed. Perform visual inspection of cases to ensure labels are present, accurate, and legible, including clear code dates. Make necessary adjustments to machinery to ensure smooth production, including changing tape, code dates, ink, paper, film, cardboard, or pallets. Operate a manual hand jack as needed to move materials and products safely. Communicate all equipment malfunctions promptly to appropriate personnel to minimize downtime and safety risks. Prepare supplies and workstations for the next shift to support continuous production flow. Stage ingredients in 50 lb containers as needed to maintain consistent product flow. Arrange meat according to instructions and product specifications. Continuously comb, hang, transport, and stack product as required by the production process. Inspect product on conveyor belts to ensure quality specifications are met. Perform all job duties accurately, efficiently, and at the expected production pace. Stand and walk for the entire shift while maintaining focus and attention to detail. Lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs as part of regular job tasks. Work safely and effectively in cold storage and warmer temperature areas, as well as near moving mechanical parts and elevated locations. Essential Skills Dependable and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced production environment. Able to follow directions and work under minimal supervision while meeting performance expectations. Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Willingness to work weekends and overtime hours as production needs require. Ability to multi-task safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Consistent attention to detail when inspecting products, labels, and code dates. Physical ability to stand and walk constantly throughout the shift. Physical ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs on a regular basis. Ability to use both hands as necessary for handling products, equipment, and materials. Capability to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required by production tasks. Comfort working in cold storage (around 30 degrees) and warmer temperature areas. Ability to operate basic material handling equipment such as a manual hand jack. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general labor or production roles is beneficial. Experience in food manufacturing, food production, packing, or cold storage environments is an advantage. Experience with meat handling, meat cutting, food prep, or line cook work is helpful. Familiarity with food safety practices and quality inspection processes is preferred. Comfort working in high-noise environments with moving mechanical parts and elevated areas.
